Featured Falcons: Eron Burrell

What is your name and current title with the University of Montevallo?
Eron Burrell, senior transfer admissions counselor.

Where are you from and what city do you currently reside in?
I was born and raised in Mobile. My family and I currently reside in Calera.

If you hold any degrees, what are they in and from what schools?
I have an associate’s degree in art from Faulkner State Community College (2016) and my bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the University of Montevallo (2020). I’m currently working on my master’s degree in business administration here at Montevallo.

How long have you worked here?
I have been working in the Admissions Office since summer 2021.

What brought you to Montevallo?
During my search for a four-year school, I was looking for something small and welcoming like the community college that I attended. Thanks to a close friend, Morgan Alford, who also attended Montevallo during my search and was able to convince me that UM was the perfect place for me. After touring the campus to see what all the hype was about, I ended up transferring in fall 2016.

What’s the best thing about working for Montevallo?
Having the opportunity to build firm relationships with different offices on campus. (Registrar, Housing, Student Life, MarComm, etc.) and being able to share with prospective students all the great resources that Montevallo has to offer. Also, the Admissions crew in Reynolds Hall makes working at UM so enjoyable!

Do you have any interesting stories about one of your favorite experiences here?
Experiencing my first College Night back as an alum and employee in 2022. GV!

What’s your proudest accomplishment since being at UM?
Organizing four Transfer Days. Transfer Day is an opportunity for potential transfer students to tour campus, get all their transfer questions answered and connect with current Montevallo students. In addition, all students who pre-register for Transfer Day get the opportunity to have an unofficial check sheet completed. We will have our fifth Transfer Day in November!

Are you currently working on, or have you recently completed any interesting projects?
I currently serve on the Junior Alumni Board of Directors.

Why do you belong at Montevallo?
Here at Montevallo, you never meet a stranger. UM is such a welcoming place for all to belong. Everyone is willing to help and pitch in when it is time. From helping plan an event for prospective students to gathering new students for a big group photo. I am grateful to have fostered connections with faculty, staff, alumni and students who call this special place home.
